Connecticut Irene Hurricane and your iPhone.

blog/php/Irene.jpg

Hurricane Irene is hammering the North East and is now expected to include New York City, Long Island, New Jersey and southern Connecticut. Even casinos in Atlantic City aren't gambling with Hurricane Irene as the 11 resort properties shut their doors for only the third time in the city's history and prepare to face their biggest losses ever.

you can track Hurricane storms on Tv and on your computer but tracking it on the go with the iPhone and the iPad can be a life saver.

Here are a couple of these apps to check out to keep you safe out of the rain:

Shelter View: When irene strikes know when and where shelters have been opened to provide assistance this app displays current shelter information from the National Shelter System, which is updated every thirty minutes.

iHurricane HD: by hurricanehoftware.com enables you to view maps and information in both landscape and portrait view. "Storm tracking,” which shows, with dozens of points on a map, the entire path of the hurricane from where it was first classified to its real or forec

Tweak Lion OS X

blog/php/lion-tweaks-icon.png

On July 20th Apple released its 8th  major OS X release, and if you upgraded to this Mac Lion you are more likely to start finding system settings and changes you are not used and even dislike, the auto correct and event behavior in iCal, the new natural scrolling, and many more annoyances set through the OS.

There's always the terminal coding and deploying write commands that fixes these irritating settings, Apple called "more than 250 new features” during the press release, but there has to be an easier more user friendly way.

It's called LionTweaks, developed by Fredrik W, and it allows you to dial back some of the annoying features Apple calls new, and turn Lion OS into more OS X like you are used to.

Grab it Here.

Here is a list of what you can do with LionTweaks;

 • Showing and hiding the User Library folder

 • Enable the 2D Dock – from 10.5

 • Remove the new window animation in Lion

 • Disable Mail animations

 • Disable spelling auto correct

 • Enable Stack list view – from 10.6

 • Highlight Stack items on mous eover – from 10.5

 • Change iCals leather to aluminum – changes the image files for you

 • Enable repeating keys

 • Always show scroll bars

 • Show hidden files in Mac OS X – since the dawn of OS X

 • Disable Crash Reporter dialog popup

 • Change Address Book to aluminum – great one if you don't like the book-look

 • Disable resume on a per app basis

 • Enable FTP server – FTP server was pulled out of Lion but existed in Sharing prior to 10.7

 • Customize Launchpad Folder background image

iWatch from Apple Concept Design, i want one.

blog/php/iwatch_concept_t.jpg

Designer ADR Studios, an Italian designer, posted what an Apples iWatch should look like. I am sold,  Just think of what apple could do with it besides displaying the time from syncing with the iPhone / iPad to interacting with remote apps and data, and maybe even help you cheat on the exam.

You could pair it with your phone to display incoming calls, instant messages or text messages.

Other features of the concept design include Wireless for connectivity, Bluetooth for attaching a headset and a built-in Pico projector.

Of course, the iWatch is just a concept and Apple should take the idea and run with it. If Apple wants everyone to have an iDevice this one would be a must have, and I must have one.

No Adobe support in Mac Lion OS?

blog/php/No_Adobe_OSx_Lion.jpg
In the past Apple and Adobe have had issues regarding Adobe’s continual use of Flash. Steve Jobs mocked Flash (regarding Apple’s refusal to incorporate flash on the iPhone) ” So Apple’s refusal to "wait around” for Adobe to upgrade leads to incompatibility problems.

Some of the Known Issues | Adobe products has on the new Mac Lion OS:

- Adobe Reader and Acrobat do not run with Safari 5.1
- Java Runtime isn't installed by default | Unless it’s installed manually applications will crash.
- Dreamweaver CS4 Crash Reporter delays.
- Droplets in Photoshop CS3, CS4, and CS5 do not work
- Rosetta not supported
- Windows Live Mesh for Mac does not work altogether

So…What went wrong? You would wonder with two companies like this, glitches would have been already predetermined. Well, a lot of it has to do with this not so great, history between the two companies. All what Jobs did is call Adobe "Lazy”.

Solutions to the incompatibilities are in the works, but Adobe has given no timeline of when and if they expect to start upgrading their software or what software they are actually going to make compatible with Lion. They did, however, acknowledge the fixes they must do.

What is Spyware?

I read this somewhere on Microsoft website describing spyware

"Spyware is a general term used to describe software that performs certain behaviors such as advertising, collecting personal information, or changing the configuration of your computer, generally without appropriately obtaining your consent first."

So could be so interesting about you and your computer so hackers spend time and effort making such software and what do they really benefit from it.
